For patients from the UAE
Treatment in Azerbaijan for patients from the United Arab Emirates
Baku is about 3 hours by air from Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, Azerbaijan shares the same time zone as the Emirates, and citizens of the UAE can enter without a visa. In 2025 Azerbaijan received more than 43,000 visitors from the UAE, who stayed mostly in Baku and in the regions of Gusar, Guba, Gabala and Shaki.
Rules checked in October 2026. Your coordinator confirms them before every trip.
MedAzerbaijan helps you plan treatment in Baku clinics, Naftalan therapy or a course at a sanatorium. Our Arabic-speaking coordinator answers your questions, arranges consultations and explains the medical documents, which clinics usually issue in English or Russian.
Entry and stay
- 1
Citizens of the United Arab Emirates can enter Azerbaijan without a visa and stay for up to 90 days. This visa-free regime has been in force since July 2023, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan confirmed it again in December 2025.
- 2
If you live in the UAE but hold another passport, the entry rules depend on your nationality, and for many nationalities this means an electronic visa issued through the official ASAN Visa portal evisa.gov.az. Tell us your nationality and the type of your residence permit, and your coordinator checks what applies before you book.
- 3
If you stay longer than 15 days, you must register at the place of stay with the State Migration Service within 15 days of arrival. Usually the hotel or the resort submits it, and your coordinator checks that it is done.
- 4
If the treatment plan may take longer than the permitted stay, a visa or an extension of stay may need to be arranged in advance, so please tell us early. Entry rules can change, so your coordinator confirms them before every trip. Please also check that your passport is valid for the whole trip.
Getting to Azerbaijan
Baku has direct flights from the three main airports of the Emirates. flydubai flies from Dubai, and these flights are also sold under Emirates flight numbers, Air Arabia flies from Sharjah, and Air Arabia Abu Dhabi flies from Abu Dhabi. The flight takes about 3 hours, and as the UAE and Azerbaijan are on the same time, you arrive without any time difference to adjust to. Schedules changed several times during 2026, so your coordinator checks the current options for your dates, and our driver meets you at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku. Summer is the busiest season in Baku and at the resorts, so if you plan to combine treatment with a stay between June and September, please book early.
Money and payments
- The local currency is the Azerbaijani manat, which is held at about 1.70 manats per US dollar. We recommend bringing cash in US dollars, because dirhams can be exchanged at only a few banks in Baku and at a noticeably lower rate.
- Visa and Mastercard cards are accepted in shops, hotels and restaurants across Baku. Whether your particular card works abroad depends on your bank, so please check this with your bank before travelling.
- Your coordinator advises on the payment options for treatment and services in advance, so that you know what to prepare.

Frequently asked questions

No. Citizens of the United Arab Emirates can enter Azerbaijan without a visa and stay for up to 90 days. Entry rules can change, so we confirm the current requirements before every trip.
I live in the UAE but hold another passport. What do I need?
The rules depend on your nationality. Many visitors apply for an e-visa on the official portal evisa.gov.az. Send us your nationality and residence details, and we check the current requirements and help you prepare the application.
How long is the flight from the UAE to Baku?
About 3 hours. There are direct flights by flydubai from Dubai, by Air Arabia from Sharjah and by Air Arabia Abu Dhabi from Abu Dhabi. Baku is on the same time as the UAE. We check the current schedules for your dates and meet you at the airport in Baku.
Will someone speak Arabic with me?
Yes. Your coordinator speaks Arabic, arranges an interpreter for consultations and explains the medical documents, which clinics usually issue in English or Russian. A female interpreter can be arranged where possible, and if you prefer a female doctor, we can ask the clinic.
Is halal food available, and are clinics open on Friday?
Azerbaijan is a Muslim-majority country, about 96% of the population, and halal food is easy to find in Baku. The country has its own state halal certification, AZSTANDART Halal. Friday is a working day in Azerbaijan, and the weekend is Saturday and Sunday, so we plan appointments around that.

If you stay longer than 15 days, registration with the State Migration Service must be completed within 15 days of arrival. The hotel or resort usually submits it, and we check that it is done.
How much will the treatment cost?
The cost depends on the diagnosis, the clinic or resort and the length of stay. You receive a written estimate before you travel.

We also welcome patients from Türkiye, Georgia, the Middle East and Europe. Your coordinator checks the rules for your passport.
