About MedAzerbaijan

What does MedAzerbaijan do?

We are a medical travel coordinator. We help patients from abroad receive treatment in licensed clinics and resorts in Azerbaijan and organise the medical review, estimate, visa support, transfers, accommodation, interpreter and follow-up.

Are you a clinic?

No. Diagnosis and treatment are carried out by licensed medical institutions. We coordinate the process and stay with you at every step, but we do not make medical decisions.

Which countries do your patients come from?

We work with patients from the CIS, Türkiye, the Middle East and Europe. Your coordinator checks the travel requirements for your citizenship.

In which languages can I communicate?

Our coordinators speak English, Russian, Arabic, Hebrew, Urdu, Turkish and Azerbaijani. At the clinic an interpreter accompanies you when needed.

Treatment and doctors

How do I start?

Send a short request with your diagnosis and any medical reports you have. Your coordinator contacts you, a specialist reviews the documents and you receive a treatment plan with an estimated cost before you decide anything.

Who decides on the treatment plan?

Always the treating doctor. The specialist proposes a plan after reviewing your documents and confirms it after examining you in Azerbaijan.

How do you choose clinics?

We work with medical institutions that hold the required licences, have experience with foreign patients, can communicate in your language and provide costs in writing. The final choice depends on your diagnosis.

Can I ask for a particular clinic or doctor?

Yes, tell your coordinator about your preference. We explain the available options and pass your request on.

Can I get a second opinion without travelling?

In many cases, yes. A specialist can review your records and images remotely. If an examination is needed, we explain why and help you plan the visit.

What if the doctor changes the plan after the examination?

Sometimes an examination shows that a different approach is needed. The doctor explains the reasons, and we update the estimate and the programme before anything new is done.

Costs and payment

How much will my treatment cost?

The cost depends on the diagnosis, the clinic and the length of stay. After the medical review you receive a written estimate that lists the treatment, accommodation and transfers separately.

Will I know the cost before I travel?

Yes. You receive the written estimate before you book anything, so you can plan the trip with a clear budget.

How is payment arranged?

Your coordinator explains the payment procedure together with the written estimate, before you travel, so that there are no surprises.

Can I get a VAT refund as a foreign patient?

Since January 2025 foreign patients can claim a VAT refund on medical services under the Tax Free system. Your coordinator explains whether it applies to your treatment.

Does travel insurance cover the treatment?

A regular travel policy usually does not cover planned treatment. It is still useful for unexpected situations during the trip.

Visa and travel

Do I need a visa?

Citizens of Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Türkiye and several other countries can enter without a visa. Most other nationalities apply for an ASAN e-visa online. Your coordinator checks the rules for your passport.

How long does the e-visa take?

The standard ASAN e-visa is usually issued within 3 working days and the urgent one within 3 hours. Apply only on the official portal evisa.gov.az.

Do I need to register if I stay longer?

If you stay more than 15 days, registration at the place of stay is required within 15 days of arrival. For citizens of Kazakhstan the period is 30 days. Usually the hotel submits it, and we check that it is done.

Who meets me at the airport?

Our driver meets you in the arrivals hall and takes you to the hotel or the clinic. All transfers during the programme are arranged for you.

Can I combine treatment in Baku with a resort?

Yes. For example, a check-up in Baku followed by a course in Naftalan. We plan the dates, transfers and accommodation between the cities.

Stay and companions

Can a relative travel with me?

Yes. We arrange accommodation and transfers for one or more companions and keep them informed during the treatment.

Where will I stay?

In Baku we suggest hotels or apartments close to the clinic. At Naftalan, Galaalti and Duzdag patients usually stay at the resort itself.

Will there be a language barrier?

Many doctors in Baku speak Russian, Turkish or English. An interpreter accompanies you at consultations and procedures, and documents are translated into your language.

Can my family follow the treatment from home?

Yes. With your permission, your coordinator can keep a family member informed during the treatment.

Documents and privacy

Which documents should I send?

Recent reports, test results, scans and discharge summaries, plus a list of the medicines you take. Send whatever you have, and the doctor will tell you if anything else is needed.

Do I need to translate my documents?

No. We arrange translation for the doctors.

Can I send documents later on WhatsApp?

Yes. You can start with a short request and send reports, photos of documents and scans in the chat with your coordinator.

How is my medical information used?

Medical documents are used only to review your case and prepare the treatment plan. They are shared with the doctors who review your case.

After treatment

What happens after I return home?

You receive translated discharge documents and recommendations, and the doctor remains available for follow-up questions.

Can I have online follow-up consultations?

When needed, we arrange online consultations with your doctor and help with translation.

What should I give my doctor at home?

The translated discharge summary, test results and recommendations. If your doctor has questions, we help connect them with the treating specialist.

Did not find the answer?

Write to your coordinator in your language. We will answer and, if needed, ask a specialist.
