Entry and stay

  1. 1

Israeli citizens need a visa for Azerbaijan, and there are two simple options. Holders of ordinary Israeli passports can receive a single entry visa for 30 days on arrival at the international airports of Azerbaijan. You can also apply in advance for an electronic visa through the official ASAN Visa portal evisa.gov.az. It is issued within 3 working days, or within 3 hours with the urgent service, and allows a stay of up to 30 days. The state fee is USD 20 and is paid online.

  2. 2

According to the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Tel Aviv, the e-visa applies only to certain types of Israeli passport. Before you apply, your coordinator checks your passport type and tells you which option fits. Please also make sure that your passport is valid for the whole stay.

  3. 3

If the treatment may last longer than 30 days, please tell us early, because a different visa arranged in advance may be needed. A stay can only be extended if the request is made before the permitted period ends. Your coordinator confirms the right visa for your treatment plan before you book.

  4. 4

If you stay longer than 15 days, you must register at your place of stay with the State Migration Service within 15 days of arrival. Usually the hotel or the resort submits it, and your coordinator checks that it is done.

  5. 5

In March 2026, Israel's National Security Council (NSC) raised its travel warning for Azerbaijan to level 3, and it issued further warnings later in the year. Please read the current NSC travel advisory for Azerbaijan before you book, and check it again shortly before you travel. Entry rules can also change, and your coordinator confirms them before every trip.

Getting to Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) flies between Tel Aviv and Baku. Its flights were suspended at the end of February 2026 and resumed in May 2026. The Israeli airline Arkia also flies to Baku. A direct flight takes about 3 hours. Schedules changed several times during 2026, so your coordinator checks the current options for your dates. Our driver meets you at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku.

Money and payments

  • The local currency is the Azerbaijani manat, which is held at about 1.70 per US dollar. Please bring cash in US dollars, because Israeli shekels are hard to exchange in cash in Baku, and the banks we checked do not exchange them at the counter.
  • Visa and Mastercard cards work in Azerbaijan. Please check with your bank before travelling that your card is enabled for payments and cash withdrawals abroad.
  • Your coordinator advises on the payment options for treatment and services in advance, and you receive a written estimate before you travel, so you know what to prepare.

Frequently asked questions

Do Israeli citizens need a visa for Azerbaijan?

Yes. Holders of ordinary Israeli passports can receive a single entry visa for 30 days at the international airports of Azerbaijan, or apply in advance for an e-visa through evisa.gov.az, which allows a stay of up to 30 days. The e-visa applies only to certain types of Israeli passport, so your coordinator checks your passport first and confirms the right option for your treatment.

What if my treatment takes longer than 30 days?

Please tell us as early as possible. A different visa arranged in advance may be needed, and any extension must be requested before the permitted stay ends. If you stay longer than 15 days, registration with the State Migration Service is also required within 15 days of arrival, and we check that it is done.

Are there direct flights from Tel Aviv to Baku?

Yes. Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) resumed its Tel Aviv flights in May 2026, and Arkia also flies to Baku. A direct flight takes about 3 hours. Schedules changed several times during 2026, so we check the current flights for your dates and meet you at the airport in Baku.

Will someone speak Hebrew with me?

Yes. Your coordinator speaks Hebrew and explains your medical documents, which clinics usually issue in English or Russian. Many doctors in Azerbaijan speak Russian, and for consultations in other languages we arrange an interpreter.

Can I get kosher food and visit a synagogue?

Baku has synagogues of the Mountain Jewish and the Ashkenazi communities. Near the town of Guba lies the Red Settlement (Qırmızı Qəsəbə), a historic Mountain Jewish village with a working synagogue and the Museum of Mountain Jews. Kosher food is available in Baku but limited, so please tell your coordinator in advance. Saturday and Sunday are the weekend in Azerbaijan, and if you keep Shabbat, we take it into account when planning appointments.

Is there a travel warning for Azerbaijan?

Yes. In March 2026, Israel's National Security Council raised its travel warning for Azerbaijan to level 3, and it issued further warnings later in the year. Advisories change, so please read the current NSC advisory before you book and again before you travel.

What money should I bring?

Bring US dollars in cash, because Israeli shekels are hard to exchange in cash in Baku. Visa and Mastercard cards work, but please check with your bank that your card is enabled abroad. You receive a written estimate for the treatment before you travel.
