Rules checked in October 2026. Your coordinator confirms them before every trip.

Below are the practical points that matter for citizens of Russia, including entry rules, flights, payments and documents. Your coordinator checks the current rules before every trip, because they may change.

Entry and stay

  1. 1

Citizens of Russia can enter Azerbaijan without a visa and stay for up to 90 days in a calendar year.

  2. 2

Entry is possible only with an international passport. The internal Russian passport is not accepted at the border.

  3. 3

The land border between Russia and Azerbaijan has been closed to travellers since 2020, so patients arrive by air.

  4. 4

If you stay longer than 15 days, registration at the place of stay is required. Usually the hotel or the resort submits it, and your coordinator checks that it is done.

Getting to Azerbaijan

Direct flights connect Moscow with Baku every day, and there are flights from several other Russian cities. The flight from Moscow takes about three hours. For Naftalan, some patients continue from Baku by car, and in some cases a flight to Ganja is more convenient. We help you choose the route and meet you at the airport.

Money and payments

  • Visa and Mastercard cards issued by Russian banks do not work in Azerbaijan, and Mir cards are accepted only in very limited places.
  • Bring enough cash in US dollars, euros or roubles. Currency can be exchanged in banks and exchange offices in Baku.
  • A card from a bank in another country that supports international payments is a convenient addition to cash.
  • Your coordinator explains in advance how the payment for treatment and services is arranged, so that you can prepare.
