For patients from Qatar
Treatment in Azerbaijan for patients from Qatar
Azerbaijan is a Muslim-majority country about 3 hours by air from Doha. MedAzerbaijan helps patients from Qatar plan check-ups, specialist consultations, orthopaedic and cardiology treatment, rehabilitation and stays at Azerbaijan's spa resorts. An Arabic-speaking coordinator stays in touch with you before and during the trip.
Rules checked in October 2026. Your coordinator confirms them before every trip.
According to the State Statistical Committee, Azerbaijan received 2,874 visitors from Qatar in 2025, and visitors from the Gulf mostly stay in Baku, Guba, Gusar, Gabala and Shaki. Treatment can be combined with a stay in Baku or in the mountains, but summer is the busy season, so it is worth booking early.
Entry and stay
- 1
Citizens of Qatar can enter Azerbaijan without a visa and stay for up to 30 days. This follows the agreement on mutual exemption from entry visas between Azerbaijan and Qatar, signed in 2021. Qatari citizens who come to study or work must obtain a visa in advance.
- 2
Before you travel, your coordinator confirms with the authorities that the visa-free stay suits your treatment plan. If the treatment may take longer than 30 days, tell us early. An extension of stay must be requested before the permitted stay ends, through ASAN Service centres or online, and in some cases a visa arranged in advance is the better option.
- 3
Residents of Qatar who hold another nationality and have a Qatari residence permit valid for at least 6 months can obtain a single entry 30-day tourist visa at Azerbaijan's international airports from 15 February 2026 to 15 February 2027. Other residents may need a visa arranged in advance, and we check this for your passport.
- 4
If you stay longer than 15 days, you must register at the place of stay with the State Migration Service within 15 days of arrival. Usually the hotel or the resort submits it, and your coordinator checks that it is done.
- 5
Entry rules can change, so your coordinator checks them again before every trip. Please also make sure that your passport is valid for the whole stay.
Getting to Azerbaijan
Qatar Airways operates direct flights between Doha and Baku, and the flight takes about 3 hours. Schedules on Gulf routes changed several times during 2026, so your coordinator checks the current options for your dates, including connecting flights if needed. Our driver meets you at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku and takes you to your hotel or clinic.
Money and payments
- The local currency is the Azerbaijani manat, which is held at about 1.70 per US dollar. Qatari riyals can be exchanged at only a few places in Baku and usually at a poor rate, so it is better to bring US dollars.
- Visa and Mastercard cards are accepted in Azerbaijan, including contactless payments. Whether your particular card works abroad depends on your bank, so please check this with your bank before travelling.
- Your coordinator explains the payment options for treatment and services in advance, so that you know what to prepare.
