Duzdag is a salt mountain about 14 km from the city of Nakhchivan. Inside the mountain, deep in the old salt mine, a physiotherapy centre offers speleotherapy, a treatment in which patients spend time in the special microclimate of the salt caves.

The centre mainly works with allergic and respiratory conditions such as bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis and allergic rhinitis. Treatment starts with a few days of adaptation above ground, followed by sessions in the caves. The centre physician decides whether the course is suitable after an examination.

What makes it special

1 Treatment inside the mountain

Sessions take place in salt caves deep underground, where the air and temperature remain stable throughout the year.

2 Focus on breathing

The centre specialises in asthma and other allergic and respiratory conditions in adults and children.

3 Gradual start

The first days are spent above ground so that the body can adapt before the cave sessions begin.

4 A different side of Azerbaijan

Nakhchivan has its own history, architecture and mountain landscapes, worth seeing on rest days.
